Draymond Green Continues Back And Forth With Paul Pierce
Draymond Green isn't done.
After he and Paul Pierce exchanged jabs at each other last week on the court and on Twitter, today Draymond let it be known that he still has more to say to the future Hall of Famer.
Draymond Green is recognized across the league as an excessive trash talker on the floor, but this time Green took his banter to the latest episode of the Uninterrupted Podcast.
"Just because you're scoring points that doesn't mean you were carrying the team. If you couldn't get anywhere, if you couldn't do nothing, where were you carrying them to?
"I think people tend to forget that and people will look at numbers, but sometimes they're empty stats if you're not really getting the job done. Maybe you're getting your numbers done, but you're not really getting the job done. Pierce had had an amazing career. He was a beast. But how far was he carrying those teams? If you weren’t carrying them that far, I guess we’re in the same boat."
"People tend to forget he was struggling to to get to the playoffs, was on the trade block every year, then all of a sudden Ray Allen and KG showed up. Let’s not forget that,"
There is some truth to these remarks, but nonetheless Pierce was a great player before Garnett and Allen joined him in Boston. It is especially weird coming from a guy who has is playing with Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. Regardless, who doesn't love a good back and forth? It will be interesting to see if Pierce, who has never been one to hold his tongue, grants Draymond another response.
