Draymond Green’s Perfect Response To Durant Haters
If you're not a Warriors fan, chances are you thought Kevin Durant's free agency decision this summer was messed up. You couldn't really articulate why, but you knew there was something wrong about it.
He's just doing it for the ring! (Who doesn't want to win?) Great players don't burn the team that drafted them! (Or something!) Collusion! (That's not how collusion works, but sure!)
Point being, no matter how real it feels, painting Kevin Durant as the bad guy in all this is an awfully hard position to defend...and Paul Pierce has learned this the hard way. Speaking to Sirius XM's NBA Radio on Thursday, the man who has exactly one championship ring because two competing superstars came to his team criticized Durant and his peers for joining forces, insinuating that it corresponded to a lack of competitive fire.
Hey Paul, you remember Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, right? No? Ok, well you're not gonna believe this, but...
“I could have left Boston years ago, but I stuck it out. I just feel like when you’re that close, as a competitor, you don’t go join the team that just put you out.
“That’s just me personally, but we’re living in a day and time where there’s a new generation. Guys I don’t think they are as hungry or competitive as my generation was, and that’s why you’ll probably see more of that.”
Draymond Green's response was nothing short of brilliant.
