Drunk Jalen Rose Talks Sixers
For the last four years, the only way you could get anyone to sincerely talk about the Philadelphia 76ers being a successful basketball team was to fill their body with tequila and catch them when they're lonely, right before they get too tired to dream up exceptionally creative playoff scenarios. Luckily for us, that's TMZ mission statement: videotape drunk celebs and ask them questions about stuff they normally wouldn't comment on sober. And while that's usually a recipe for disaster, it occasionally affords public figures an opportunity to clear the air about something they might regret having said beforehand.
Monday night, Jalen Rose got exactly that: a chance to placate what few Sixers fans there are left as he walked from a club to his ride. (In case you missed it, Rose said that "the Sixers don't deserve to be talked about on ABC" on ESPN's "NBA Countdown" over the weekend.)
"If Embiid plays to his potential," Rose told the photog, who had asked about the Sixers' playoff hopes. "That'll put 'em there, just like that."
"Noel, Embiid, Okafor, Canaan, Ish Smith, playoffs," he said about the lineup that will get Philly an eight-seed, failing to mention that three of those players are centers and one of them was just signed off waivers (Smith). If that sounds like a playoff team to Jalen Rose, I'll have what he's having.
