Even Mark Cuban Is In On The Thon Maker Age Joke
In the days leading up to the draft, Thon Maker came under a ton of fire for questions about his age. Was he really 18 or more like 21? Or is it 25? Really nobody actually knew the answer to the question and due to the uncertainty, many draft experts expected Maker to fall. Of course, Maker didn't fall at all, being drafted in the lottery by the Milwaukee Bucks.
Like most rookies, Maker has had his ups and downs in the Summer League. He's had a couple of games with monstrous double-doubles and then a couple of games where the fouls were piling up. In his most recent effort, Maker had 17 points and three rebounds and showed off the athleticism that caused him to be an early first round pick. Essentially, we are saying exactly what Mark Cuban did. He looked pretty good for a 40 year old.
That's right, the billionaire Mavericks owner, appeared on the ESPN2 broadcast of the game and went in on the Thon Maker age jokes. As seen on "Shark Tank" and Bill Simmons' new show, "Any Given Wednesday", Cuban never pulls any punches so it's no surprise to see him take a shot at Thon Maker and the Bucks.
WIn reality, we doubt we'll ever truly know the certainty of Maker's age. Hopefully for him, he has a few productive years and then cashes in when he's around the age of social security.
