Former Knicks Draft Pick Michael Wright Found Dead in SUV, Possibly Murdered
The New York Daily News reports that former Arizona and New York Knicks draft pick Michael Wright was found dead in the backseat of his Lexus SUV Tuesday.
Wright was found dead from a head wound inside his Lexus SUV on E. 16th St. in Midwood about 11 a.m. Tuesday, officals said. His body was covered in black garbage bags.
Details are slowly coming out, but the Daily News cites police sources saying Wright might have been murdered by a man he met on a gay dating app.
While Wednesday’s autopsy results have not been released , the police are treating this as a homicide.
Wright played on an Arizona team, along with Richard Jefferson, Luke Walton and Gilbert Arenas, that lost to Duke in the 2001 National Championship.
The New York Knicks drafted Wright with the 39th overall pick of the 2001 NBA Draft. He never did play for the Knicks, however.
