Hopefully Jimmy Butler Saved Some Of That God-Mode For The Regular Season

The NBA is still in its "preseason" phase, which means nothing that happens on the court counts towards season totals. No wins, no losses, no points, no buzzer-beaters. But last night, Jimmy Butler went off -- exhibition game be damned. He had 29 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. He went to the line 16 times. He had 20 points in the fourth quarter. He hit the game-winning three pointer with 1.5 seconds left. He was, in a word, awesome.

Damn, Jimmy B. Save some of that superhero shit for the season.
Even though this was a fake game, I can't think of a better omen for Bulls fans as the regular season approaches. Chicago's biggest problem when Derrick Rose is injured (see: most of the last two years) has been scoring. The addition of Pau Gasol gives them a consistent low-post option, but a guy who can drive to the bucket and hit from deep is crucial when the shot clock is running down.
It's not clear if Gasol is still good enough to be counted as one of a "Big 3," but assuming Jimmy Butler is at, say, a .75 right now, and Gasol is a .5, that means the Bulls have a Big 3.5 between Rose, Gasol/Butler and Joakim Noah. Not bad.
