Isaiah Thomas And Chris Paul Put On The Best Point Guard Duel In A Decade
In this day and age, it's hard to get excited about an NBA highlight that isn't either: a) a vicious, posterizing dunk or b) Stephen Curry absolutely raining threes from 29 feet out. Allow me to submit a third option, having watched highlights of Chris Paul and Isaiah Thomas go at each other in last night's Clippers-Celtics OT thriller: that is, highlights of Chris Paul and Isaiah Thomas going at each other. Point guard battle!
You may not think much of a 4+ minute highlight reel of mid-range jumpers and lay-ups, but believe me -- this duel was incredible. It gets better as time goes on, like wine, or not-"Lost." Watch:
Awesome, right? Turns out that was the most prolific point guard battle since 2006, when Steve Nash and Jason Kidd (still on the Nets!) went at it in New Jersey (New Jersey!). Paul finished with 35 points, 13 assists (and three steals); Thomas had 36 points and 11 assists (and the W).
Isaiah Thomas & Chris Paul are the 1st players w/ 35 points and 10 assists against each other since Jason Kidd & Steve Nash in December 2006
