What the Nets are doing, well, it’s just not working. They haven’t advanced past the Conference semifinal since 2002-03.
The NBA’s most impotent “Big Three” of Joe Johnson, Deron Williams and Brook Lopez showed fight against the Atlanta Hawks by tying the series. But they proceeded to lose the next two, and the final loss wasn’t pretty.
It left a bitter taste in Johnson’s mouth, who implied that Brooklyn’s roster is about to explode:

He doesn’t see the same team coming back next year — no one’s safe. Even he might not be on the roster next year. He’s signed through next season, so he won’t have complete autonomy to leave, but this apparent doubt could grow into a trade request.
Williams is signed through 2017.
The problem with the Nets wholesaling their roster is that Williams and Johnson each had their worst statistical seasons in the last decade. The Nets will have to sell low.
