Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Fires At Trump On Rachel Maddow Show: Says He’s ‘A Bully’, Has ‘No Substance’
The Trump Vs. Abdul-Jabbar war could last years, and cost thousands of lives. But to hear Kareem tell it, Trump's shelf life in politics is about done, so perhaps this is the last time he'll speak on him. At any rate, Abdul-Jabbar appeared on Rachel Maddow's MSNBC show tonight and trashed Donald again, calling him a "bully" who "stifles public discourse," and that "pretty soon there's going to have to be some substance."
Maddow asked Kareem why Trump's attacks on the press bother him so much.
"It bothers me because the first amendment is such an essential part of what our democracy is about. And when you attack journalists in order to silence criticism, you're really stifling the public discourse. ... I didn't like the tone of what that meant in this political campaign."
On the note that Trump shot to him following Kareem's op-ed in the Washington Post, in which he called Trump an enemy to the principles of the Constitution.
"I didn't expect that. ... Journalists try to ask him questions and all they get is threats and putdowns."
On why Trump is doomed.
