Kobe Bryant Taken Down Hard By Chris Hardwick, Michelle Beadle On @Midnight
In all the confusion surrounding Kobe Bryant's retirement announcement we've apparently forgotten:
1. He's a terrible rapper.
2. He's a terrible writer/poet.
3. He was accused of rape that time.
But don't worry: proving that Comedy Central continues to be our No. 1 news source, Chris Hardwick and @Midnight on Monday tackled the import Kobe issues that no one else has had the cajones to touch. And the fact that Michele Beadle was one of the panelists made it that much sweeter.
"Kobe Bryant channeled his inner high-school-creative-writing-student last night to announce his retirement from the NBA with a weird, borderline erotic poem he published online called, 'Dear Basketball.' Guys, he has feelings. When he was writing this I imagine Kobe drawing pictures of horses and flowers and stuff. If you haven't read it, it's like 'The Road Less Traveled', except that Robert Frost didn't travel every time he got the ball. What? I don't know what that means. Whaaat?"
Here's the video of the segment. @Midnight (Viacom, actually) gets bitchy when we post video of their content, which would seem to be what their show should be all about, but sadly no.
What would you write back to Kobe Bryant?
BEADLE: "Dear Kobe, we broke up three years ago. Please stop contacting me, it's getting awkward."
