LeBron's Diet Motivation: He Had Nightmares That Cookie Monster Was Chasing Him
As you know, LeBron James was closed for renovations this summer, and the result is a new, streamlined physique which he credits to the Modified Paleo Diet -- detailed here by our own Eric Goldschein, who underwent the regimen himself.
But what motivates a man to cut out all grains, dairy, sugar, soy and alcohol from his diet? For Eric, it was his desire to nimbly escape the police during pub crawls. For LeBron, it was the quest for another NBA Championship ring. But there was also another, secret motivation -- a sort of nightmare fuel that kept him going past his original one-month timetable.
LeBron, to CNN's Rachel Nichols:
What was the hardest thing to give up?
It was either pancakes or chocolate chip cookies and ice cream.
Did you go to bed dreaming of pancakes that you could not have?
What? All the time. I had the cookie monster chasing me a few times in my dreams.
Are you quicker on the court now?
I am. I am. And that's not such a good thing for the competition.
