Master P: ‘Kobe Should Have Done More To Help Lamar Odom. He’s A Phony’
Hip Hop artist/actor Master P, real name Percy Miller, says he was a mentor to Lamar Odom ... according to Master P. But when asked about the Odom situation by TMZ on Wednesday, he had some harsh words for Kobe Bryant, who is Odom's friend.
“If Kobe was his friend … Kobe, like, owns the [Lakers]. He could’ve got the man back on the team,” he said. “That’s all he wanted.”
Master P also said that he believes Kobe and the Kardashians showing up to be by Odom’s side at the hospital this week is “phony.”
It kind of makes you wonder why Master P couldn't have been more of an influence on Odom, who was clearly in a dangerous spiral of drug abuse and depression for some time. Seems like there's quite a bit of finger pointing happening this week.
Later, he said he thinks Odom was “blackballed” by the NBA because of his role on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
That may be true, although I personally doubt it. Odom had plenty of other issues to scare off NBA coaches and general managers.
Master P. played in the NBA himself: two preseasons with the Raptors and Hornets. Most recently he played with the CBA Fort Wayne Fury, in 2004. He's also starting his own reality show soon.
He also had a successful album named, ironically, Only God Can Judge Me.
