If The NBA Is Back By Christmas, That Day Will Be Basketball Nirvana
Christmas is always a big NBA day. Last year we got a marquee Heat-Lakers matchup, as well as a game featuring two of the league's other signature franchises (Bulls vs Knicks), and the Celtics taking on Dwight Howard and the Magic. Well, wouldn't you know it - this year's slate is even better, and by complete coincidence, that set of games is in jeopardy.
There are just three games on this year's Christmas docket, as opposed to last year's five. But the quality of those three...good Lord. First, a playoff rematch: the Celtics are scheduled to play the Knicks. That's followed by a Finals rematch: the Mavericks take on the Heat in Dallas. Finally, the Lakers face the Bulls in matchup that's merely awesome. Those are three big games for the middle of the season, the type that will excite even the most casual of fans. And we don't for one minute think such a good slate isn't meant to make fans ponder how much it would suck if it never got played.
