Ode To Hoosiers: Pacers To Rock Hickory Uniforms Next Season

We're coming up on the 30th anniversary of the film Hoosiers next year -- it was released in 1986, although the majority of its run occurred in 1987. I know this because it coincides with Indiana University's run to the '87 NCAA championship, which was Bobby Knight's final national title. So the state's NBA team, the Pacers, is marking the movie anniversary with the alternate uniforms you see below -- the Hickory High unis from the movie.
Pretty great. Except for the shorts, it's an exact replica -- and here's hoping that other NBA teams roll out some throwback unis soon. We're at the 30th anniversary of the movie Teen Wolf, which was filmed in Pasadena, so let's go with some alternate Beavers uniforms, Los Angeles Lakers.
The plot of Hoosiers, of course, is loosely based on the story of tiny Milan High School, which won the Indiana State Championship in 1954. That piece of Indiana history was immortalized by the film, in which Gene Hackman played fictional coach Norman Dale, who led Hickory to the title. Dennis Hopper earned an Oscar nomination as alcoholic former player Shooter Flatch, and the whole thing was just about as awesome as a basketball movie set in the 1950s could be.
Fun fact: Hiliard Gates, who announced the 1954 Milan championship game, was also the announcer in the film.
