Reggie Miller Says What Everyone Is Thinking About Draymond Green’s Suspension

Had Draymond Green been suspended for a game after kicking Steven Adams in the crotch, it'd be vastly easier to trust the objectivity of the NBA's punitive process. But it just so happened that Draymond Green kicked Steven Adams in the crotch while his Warriors were down 3-1 to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and a suspension would've drastically hurt the chances of a seven-game series taking place. Alas, he was retroactively given a flagrant 2 and hit with $25,000 fine. Perhaps the league wasn't sure about his intentions -- who knows?
This time around, however, Draymond Green smacks LeBron James in the nuts while the Cavaliers are on the brink of elimination and, wham, he'll be watching Game 5 from his couch. Sure, Green retaliated to LeBron's decision to step over him -- a total "fuck you" in sports language -- with a very light slap on the arm, but that couldn't have been the reason NBA VP of Basketball Operations Kiki Vandeweghe suddenly decided to throw the book at Dray (it was a light tap, by any account), right? I mean, that's what the league highlighted as their official reason, but by and large I imagine that Green's suspension was the culmination of several questionably violent incidents he's been a part of these playoffs. That's explanation should work for you.
Reggie Miller isn't buying it. He thinks this is all about the league manipulating rosters to get more games out of their championship series.
Would bet my right arm if this series was even at 2-2 Draymond wouldn't be suspended for GM5. What happened in OKC was way worse..
Come to think of it, the referees in Game 4 were suspiciously lenient with physical play, which would make sense were there actually an organized plan to goad Green into a heated situation whereby he could be reasonably suspended for reacting like a normal person, thus increasing the likelihood of a Cavs win to extend the series. Or maybe Green is just a dick and the league is tired of watching him hit people in the nuts on national television. (After all, he has been calling LeBron "a bitch" for the entire series.) Whatever the case, at least we now know Reggie Miller is a card-carrying NBA conspiracy theorist.
