Revisiting The Time Michael Jordan May Or May Not Have Stolen A Reporter’s Girl

As you probably know, Michael Jordan's former school North Carolina squeezed into the Sweet 16 with a win over the Washington Huskies Sunday. As you probably also know, Washington City Paper is currently batting Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder in court.
In light of these two seemingly unrelated things, we figured we'd revisit a compelling WCParticle about that one time MJ may or may not have stolen reporter Greg Seigle's lady.
In 2002, Seigle told a tale of Jordan—then playing for the Washington Wizards, a year from retirement—being just as competitive off the court as he is on it. And it's still about as entertaining today as it was back then.
On the same day his wife filed for divorce, the basketball legend apparently tried to steal the reporter's date, a long-time, out-of-town crush named Christine.
Seigle went to meet his date for a late dinner only to find her surrounded by Jordan and his entourage. Allegedly, the men with him—complete with a mobster-looking character, his personal trainer and "legal counsel" for the team—tried a variety of tactics to get pull Christine away, including having the restaurant manager step in to tell Seigle to step away.
The restaurant's manager sidles up and whispers: "Sir, if you could, please move away. The gentlemen want to conduct some business."
I look to Christine for a clue. Her eyes dart towards Jordan's, then back at mine. She grins sheepishly.
It seems Jordan had his entourage take care of the dirty work for him, and Seigle leaves us not quite knowing what happened with Christine, although we can certainly assume. The man is a 5-time MVP.
