Skip Bayless Does Not Put Respect On Russell Westbrook’s Name
It's not easy handing out blame for the Oklahoma City Thunder's last three loses, seeing as their opponent was/is the best basketball team of all time, but blame will be handed out nonetheless because it's 2016 and people are paid just as much as the players to criticize them. A reasonable person would say that the deciding factor in the Western Conference Finals was Golden State's latent hot streak from behind the arc. Skip Bayless says Russell Westbrook doesn't know what he's doing out there.
"I feel sorry for Kevin Durant," Bayless said about a guy who definitely hates him. "Because he's stuck with Russell Westbrook."
Ouch. The flamethrowing continued...
"This team will never win a championship with Russell Westbrook as the primary decision-maker. All I know is he led the playoffs once again in what's called usage rate -- Russell Westbrook had the ball in his hands more than any player in all the playoffs, east or west -- Russell Westbrook had the ball in his hands more than 34% of the time. Conversely, Russell Westbrook in the Western Conference Finals turned it over 31 times. Tat's the most in the last 30 years or since stats were even kept in the Western Conference Finals. So that's as far back as the stats go. Try to get that through your head. He's the primary decision-maker and when you need him to have a feel for the game, to do the right thing at the right time, to get a 13-point lead home, what happens?"
It's a shame that this guy can't go to work and say "Man, what an awesome series!" and be done with it. Instead, he's gotta rain on everybody's parade. Oh well, let's see if Kevin Durant rushes to his teammates defense like he did last time this show went for broke on their OKC-themed hot takes.
