The 2016-2017 New York Knicks: The Worst “Super Team” Ever Created
Not too long ago, Derrick Rose said that the New York Knicks were going to be this years super team. After an off-season that consisted of signing Rose, Joakim Noah, Courtney Lee and Brandon Jennings it seemed like the Knicks organization was ready for a dominating season. Fast forward a few months the Knicks are 24-35 and officially a lost cause.

It was reported today that Joakim Noah will most likely undergo knee surgery which will sideline him for the rest of the year. Noah signed a four year $72 million deal this offseason and ended his season averaging 5 points per game. This news came just a few hours after the Knicks released offseason signee Brandon Jennings, who has been known for disliking Phil Jacksons triangle based offense. Two key pieces to the super team are no longer part of it and you can only wonder what Phil Jackson is thinking.
Many people speculated that the Knicks were going to make a move before the trade deadline that was going to involve sending Carmelo Anthony to a playoff caliber team. Now Melo will have to watch another playoffs on his couch wondering when it will be his turn to win a ring. The 32 year old believed this year was his best chance to make a run but this team ended up being the worst he's ever been apart of.
The remainder of the season will consist of fans wanting the Knicks to tank and rebuild around Kristaps Porzingis next season. Melo, Rose and Noah do not have the brightest futures in New York and fans can only hope Phil Jackson steps down as well. The fact that Rose ever considered this squad of characters a super team is crazy to think about.
It is sad to see the careers of Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose be ruined like this and you can only hope they get a chance somewhere else in the future. For now though, the Knicks are officially the laughing-stock of the NBA.
