The Warriors Are About To Sign … Wait, Is That Matt Barnes’ Entrance Music I Hear?
Savvy move by the Warriors signing Matt Barnes, as ESPN is reporting they will do today. With Kevin Durant out (he'll have an MRI on his hyper-extended knee today), they're going to need Draymond Green more than ever. Barnes will siphon technicals away from Green. Brilliant.
I'm only half-kidding about this.
Barnes, who many don't realize has formerly played at Golden State (2006-08) is headed there once again -- a curious move considering the MRI on Durant's knee hasn't happened yet. That doesn't necessarily mean that the prognosis on Durant is serious, but it doesn't mean it isn't.
Barnes will make the league minimum with the Warriors in addition to the money guaranteed by the Sacramento Kings, where he was cut on Feb. 20 to make room for three players the Kings got in the DeMarcus Cousins trade with New Orleans. Barnes was in the first year of a two-year, $12.5 million contract.

Barnes' signing means that he will have played for all four California NBA teams within a five-year span.
He faces a civil suit as a result of an altercation at a Manhattan club in December, but an NYPD investigation has cleared him of criminal wrongdoing.
