Until LeBron Stops The Shameless Flop Circus, He Will Never Be The Greatest
LeBron James is currently fighting two losing battles. One is with his hairline -- his scalp is looking more and more like a football game being played on the baseball field (credit: @erictrillman_). The other is trying to convince the refs that he's being hammered on every play.
LeBron of course is infamous for his flops -- it just may be the the best-known part of his game. But that doesn't mean he's good at it. Watch this ridiculous mess below from Cleveland's 126-91 loss to the Warriors on Monday night.

It's possibly true that opponents get away with more fouls on LeBron than with other players because LeBron is bigger and stronger than most. But he's not the only one -- I'm sure that DeMarcus Cousins and Dwight Howard have similar complaints. The answer isn't to flop badly and cry like a baby. That's not a good look for a player whom some maintain is the greatest of all time.
How much time did Bronny spend on the floor on the above foul? He played it like a grenade exploded a couple of feet away. Stop with the drama, you're not that good of an actor.
Would Bill Russell act that way? Nate Thurmond? Wilt? Jordan? Until LeBron pulls up his pants and grows out of his metrosexual phase as regards to fouls, he will never be worthy of the "best of all time" label.
As for Monday's game itself, it was really no surprise. LeBron in particular and the Cavs in general are not going to sweat a blowout loss on the road, even if it's against the Warriors. Their goal is to have the best record in the East, and come out on the other side of the regular season relatively healthy.
The Warriors are clearly the better team -- and unbeatable when shooting well. But the Cavs know that if they catch them with injuries in the Finals, like they did last season, they can eke out another title.
But again, it's a bad look. Cleveland played an awful, putrid, sloppy game on Monday -- once the Warriors got out to a big lead, the Cavs quit like dogs. On top of that, we had a convicted sex offender at courtside calling the play-by-play. All in all a nice way to honor Martin Luther King Jr., dontcha think?
