Warriors Secret To Success: Have Fun, Wear Furry Hats
December 11 / Rick Chandler / SportsGrid
Here's Stephen Curry in TDK Garden in Boston during warmups for tonight's tilt with the Celtics -- Golden State's fifth of seven straight road games. As you can see, the pressure of being undefeated and banged up as a team is really getting to him ... or, not so much.
And some say that this is a big reason why the Warriors are so good. While the rest of NBAdom debates over how long their winning streak will last (23-0 to start the season, 27-0 overall), the Warriors just take each game as it comes and look to have fun.
And here's something you don;t often (ever?) see -- ESPN is broadcasting Warriors warmups. Not the game -- the pregame grabass warmups (see photo). Mostly they're focused on Curry shooting, but this is something I don't remember seeing.
What kind of a test will the Celtics be? The Warriors will be without Klay Thompson tonight, although he says he can play after rolling his ankle against the Pacers on Tuesday. So Curry is going to have a lot of Avery Bradley in his face. And former Warrior David Lee is now with the Celtics, so maybe he can break the curse Golden State has over the rest of the league.
In other words, it's a stiff test. But the Warriors have proven that playing loose is the key to success -- they're wearing fur hats, fergodsake.
