Your Childhood Is Not Yet Dead: Michael Jordan Dunks At Age 48
As I've gotten older, I've come to learn some things about Michael Jordan. For one, he's not necessarily the nice, genial guy that I watched lead a team of cartoon characters to victory in Space Jam back in 1996, when I was nine years old.
He could be competitive, in a borderline psychotic way, and he's said and done some things off the court that nine year old me could never see Michael Jordan doing. 24-year-old me knows that this is the way the world works; that without that borderline psychotic competitiveness and sometimes dickish behavior, Michael Jordan would not be Michael Jordan, and he wouldn't have gotten to a position where he did stuff like Space Jam.
24-year-old me is also happy that Jordan can still dunk at age 48. Because the day that he can't will be one of those "I'm getting older" moments that no one likes having. Thankfully, it looks like we're still a few years away from that.
