Maryland’s Women’s Basketball Team Won A Game By 129 Points On Wednesday
We've seen some really ugly girls basketball results in the high school ranks in our time -- this 100-0 win in Texas comes to mind -- but usually college ball is more competitive.
Usually. One has to wonder why No. 6 Maryland was playing a weak Div. II school at all, even if it is officially listed as an exhibition. The Terps beat Bluefield State on Wednesday, 146-17, in which Bluefield was shut out in the second half. Yep, Maryland ended the game on a 78-0 run, during which time Bluefield couldn't even manage a made free throw.
How is this helping anyone? That's a mystery. Five Maryland players finished in double figures, and surely the team got nothing out of the exercise ... not even exercise. They would have been better off just holding a vigorous practice.
By the way, if you're keeping score then technically it's not exhibition game. In this case it was a farce.
So let's take a look on what's next up on Maryland's schedule ... yikes.
The Terps’ next exhibition opponent? Division-III Mary Baldwin, who didn’t win a game last season. Good luck to the Fighting Squirrels.
