Boise State’s Black Helmets: Incredibly Badass, Or Just More Of The Same?
I seem to be in the minority here, on Boise State's black helmets the team will wear this Saturday against UNLV. Graham Watson at Dr. Saturday? She loves them. Lost Lettermen's on board, too. SportsGrid's facebook following? The likes speak for themselves. Here, have a look:
So why am I underwhelmed? Combination of two things, I think: 1) the color is new, but this is a design Boise's used before; 2) the Broncos are practicaly the last team in America to embrace the blackout concept. Incomplete sampling here. My alma mater's done it. Even Tennessee did it once. This isn't anything that hasn't been done before by a long shot. Yeah, the bronco on the black background looks more intimidating than on the blue, but still... it's a horse head outline. It'll probably fire the players up, I hope the fans enjoy it... but eh, at this point I'm a little blackout-ed out.
I could be wrong, though. So I decided once again to consult our resident expert on all horse-related matters, to get his opinion on the helmets:

Yeah, I agree, I'd just as soon see them wear the regular blue ones, or at least use some blue on the black helmet. One last question: what's your favorite way to ruin a traditional Mexican dish?
