De’Andre Johnson Bails on FSU Supporters, Says He’s ‘Ashamed’ He Hit Woman
Isn't it a bitch when you go to all the trouble of defending a guy who hit a woman, and then that guy says that he was totally wrong? Florida State apologists for former Seminoles quarterback De'Andre Johnson will be interested to know that he says that he's "ashamed" of himself, and that he should have just walked away from the confrontation in a bar last week in which he punched a woman who had been bothering him.
Johnson was released from the football team and charged with misdemeanor battery in the incident.
Tofay he appeared on Good Morning America and told Michael Strahan:
"I totally should have walked away. I'm ashamed of that. I'm sorry," Johnson said. "I apologize to the lady in the incident, to her family, to my family, to my mother. I know I was not raised that way. If I could do it all over again, I would."
Surveillance camera footage at a Tallahassee nightclub on June 24 shored Johnson hit a 21-year-old woman in the face at the bar. THe woman had reportedly been aggressive, and had struck Johnson with her knee.
His supporters, especially on Twitter (using the hashtage #FSUTwitter), have defended him, saying that the woman was wrong.
"It doesn't matter. I shouldn've raised my hand to her,' Johnson told Strahan.
The football player also expressed remorse at having disappointed his mother. "It kills me inside that I hurt her heart." His mother, Pamela, grew emotional as she recounted how she cried for three days after learning of the incident involving her son.
"What you saw on the video is not who I am," Johnson said.
Johnson, 19, said that he was sober at the time of the incident.
So this could be a case of a young athlete trying to repair his image so that he can latch onto another team, or return to FSU. How much of this remorse would be evident if the incident hadn't have been recorded? The answers are shrouded in mystery. The only thing clear is that #FSUTwitter are a collection of grade-a nitwits.
