Ex-FSU QB Says Woman He Punched In The Face Started It By Calling Him The N-Word
By now you've probably seen the video of now-dismissed Florida State quarterback De'Andre Johnson punching a woman in the face in a Tallahassee bar. We've known about this incident for some time, but as is seemingly customary, it took the release of video footage for the team to act decisively and kick Johnson off the team for good.
The video is horrifying. Regardless of the woman's actions, the sheer brutality Johnson showed in rearing back and socking her is shown in literal black and white here:
There is no excuse for doing this. But here's an excuse that some people (mostly keyboard warriors, via Twitter) will surely buy: Johnson's side says that the woman called him a "fucking n***er" and that witnesses at the bar will testify to that.
We're told ... Johnson is adamant the woman dropped the N-bomb when Johnson initially bumped into her at the bar ... saying, "Get off me you f**king n**ger."
Johnson's rep says there are witnesses at the bar who also claim they heard the racial slur ... and they're willing to testify in court.
The rep said that Johnson was "extremely embarrassed" about the fight. He also claims that the woman kneed Johnson the groin before hitting him and, in turn, getting hit.
And round and round the excuses will go. Johnson shouldn't have hit her. This woman shouldn't have called him racial slurs. Johnson, who is 19, shouldn't even have been in the bar in the first place. Why did she get so upset at a guy trying to push past her -- has she ever been to a bar before? And so on.
At the end of the day, don't be violent. Why is that so hard to understand?
