Georgia Bulldogs T-Shirt Comment Leads To Severe Beating Of Mentally Challenged Man
In one of the more twisted stories we've heard in a while, a 26-year-old mentally challenged Publix employee named James Wall was severely beaten to the extent that two of his teeth were knocked out — all because he complimented a customer on his Georgia Bulldogs T-shirt.
Wall claims he told 27-year-old Ryan Keys "Hey, I like your shirt," after which the 6-4, 275-pound Keys proceeded to punch Wall in the face 3-8 times according to witnesses, sending him falling into some nearby shopping carts.
Keys flew the scene with brother Cade at the wheel, though a store security video showing the vehicle's license plate number enabled police to locate their home, where both men were arrested and booked into the Duval County Jail on charges of aggravated battery and resisting arrest.
According to the police report, Cade Keys claims the victim said "something smart ass, but I couldn't tell you what it was," and antagonized his brother.
The report said that Ryan Keys told officers he thought Wall had an attitude and was going to charge his brother because "you know, he had that look." When asked how he felt threatened by the victim, he told the officers, "I will always hit first," according to the report.
Wall's two front teeth were found 10-12 feet from where he was lying. His father retrieved them from the parking lot, as Wall spent yesterday morning undergoing oral surgery.
According to Wall's father, his son has the mental capacity of a teenager. As such, the potential punishment for the Keys brothers could be more severe.
