If you were a die-hard football fan in Alabama and received notification that you'd won tickets to this year's Auburn-Alabama game - a rivalry so storied and fierce that it moved someone to do this - you'd be excited. If you went to the designated location to pick up your tickets, presented the required identification, then found out that the "contest" was actually a setup to arrest you for failing to pay child support...you'd be less excited.
And that's exactly what happened for Operation: Iron Snare in Opelika, Ala., which successfully lured in almost a dozen people suspected of not paying child support...all under the guise of free tickets to the Iron Bowl. It's more than a bit surreal to see these people walk in - sometimes very happily - thinking one thing, only to have the script flipped on them in the blink of an eye. It's like a college football edition of To Catch A Predator. It's like watching a flawlessly-executed, large-scale prank, only you don't have to feel bad for the people getting fooled, because not paying child support is a pretty lowlife move.
