It Was Only A Matter Of Time Before Someone Compared Nevin Shapiro To Osama Bin Laden
After his tell-all interview with Yahoo! Sports that may eventually result in the downfall of the Miami Hurricanes' football and basketball programs, you just knew that there was going to be some Biscayne Bay backlash for Nevin Shapiro. In fact, people are already selling "snitches get stitches" t-shirts in South Beach.
Comparing Shapiro to one of the most reviled human beings of all time, on the other hand? That seems a bit extreme, but that's exactly what happened when Luther Campbell- the man from whom Shapiro's "Lil' Luke" nickname was derived - posted the following tweet to his Twitter account this morning.
The only person i can compare Shapiro to is Bin Laden.
Upon first seeing this tweet, which comes after a slew of tweets in which Campbell proclaims that he had a long night, one would imagine that the tweet may just be the product of an extremely harsh hangover. But unfortunately, Campbell didn't stop there, retweeting a follower's tweet stating that SEAL Team 6 should be hired to take out Shapiro. Classy.
For those of you unaware, Campbell was a part of the rap group, 2 Live Crew, in the 80s, and developed close relationships with players and even (allegedly) put bounties on opposing players. (Campbell denied ever paying players in a column yesterday.) Players referred to him as "Uncle Luke," hence the "Lil' Luke" nickname given to Shapiro.
For what it's worth, Campbell's Twitter account is not verified, but judging by the 12,000+ followers the account contains and the members of the media who follow it, there's no reason to believe that it's not Campbell's personal account.
