Rutgers Now Has A Football Coach/AD Tandem That Looks Like It Could Probably Beat You Up (UPDATE: Never Mind)

UPDATE: Cristobal turned Rutgers down. So, uh, guess that intimidating duo won't happen. FIU fans ought to be ecstatic. Rutgers fans ought to start panicking (kind of like I am right now). So just how badass these two would have looked next to one another in the original post below.
As I type this, Rutgers is reportedly finalizing the hiring of Florida International coach Mario Cristobal to replace Greg Schiano as head of the football program. At FIU, Cristobal did an excellent job in turning around a program that was five feet, 11 inches under when he got there, and the overwhelmingly positive immediate reaction to his hiring has me excited as a Rutgers fan that there's a positive buzz around the program to kick off the post-Schiano era. But I'm also excited for another reason: the press conference photo op of Cristobal and Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti. Why? Well...
Cristobal (L) played on the offensive line at Miami. Pernetti (R) was a tight end at Rutgers. Both are relatively young guys (in their early 40s). In other words, this is the most intimidating football coach-athletic director duo in America, as demonstrated in the side-by-side photo above. Don't think so? Would you like to take it up with them? Yeah. That's what I thought. The next time the conference realignment circus starts back up, Rutgers just needs to bring these two along and have them give everyone stern looks. They'll get what they want.
