Students, faculty, and alumni at North Carolina State are in for a real treat. No, it's not a milk bone, but pretty darn close! This past Father's Day, members of Wolfpack Nation were overjoyed to welcome a new key member to the group, Tuffy II. The young pup joins veteran mascot Tuffy this season as the two faces of NC State Athletics. This lovable little pup will surely bring a new life to an already vigorous fan base. Now I know what most of you are thinking, but no, Tuffy II is not a real wolf. He's actually a Tamaskan, a mix of Siberian Husky, German Shepherd, and Alaskan Malamute.
With Tuffy II on the sidelines, this will be the seventh season in which NC State has had a live mascot. While these adorable fluff balls aren't as iconic as say UGA (Georgia Bulldogs) or Bevo (Texas Longhorns), the dynamic duo joins the marks of well known mascot pairs, such as, Ranger and Stryker from Army, and Lady and Joy from Baylor.
All things considered, this could be exactly what NC State needs. As the team searches for it's first football title in school history, the sidelines will surely be playful this season. Hey, who knows, with all this talk of wolves, maybe Mr. Jordan Belfort will step off Wall Street for the day and join the two for a fun game of fetch.
