It has been widely assumed that Johnny Manziel will leave Texas A&M early for the NFL, because he’d assuredly be an early-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. But, there are no guarantees. One Tweet doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed to leave.
Nobody has any clue if he’ll leave, for sure. He might not even know. But you can bet on this sort of thing (if you’re insane), and the odds give us an idea of what the odds are (at least according to this small, very-imprecise market).
Via BetOnline, here are the current odds:
Those odds imply that there’s about a 75% chance Johnny enters the draft. When you realize that he’s the living embodiment of Asher Roth’s “I Love College,” you realize it’s not absurd to think he stays.
What does this mean? Not a ton. All it means is that most people tend to overrate the likeliest scenario, so just because he’ll probably leave doesn’t mean he will leave. There’s a reasonable chance he stays. So, cross your fingers, Aggies fans. (And uncross yours, Jags/Texans/Browns/Raiders/Vikings/Rams/Jets whoever else hates their current quarterback.)
