An Overly-Excited Stanford Coach Faceplants During Orange Bowl
January 4 / Brad Cohen / SportsGrid
Stanford's blowout victory over Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl Monday was quite the accomplishment, but perhaps more astonishing was the way one of the assistant coaches managed to defy physics.
As a Virigina Tech receiver is running down the field for a 40-yard gain, a Stanford assistant starts to backpedal on the sideline to watch the play develop. Even though he's running backwards, he somehow goes against momentum and faceplants (as in, lands on his face) hard.
He managed to get his hands out in time, but that makes the scene no less entertaining to watch. The 40-12 victory probably went a long way to ease the coach's embarrassment.
