Steve Spurrier Press Conference: ‘I’m Resigning, Not Retiring, Let’s Get That Straight’
Steve Spurrier is explaining his decision to retire in the middle of the season right now, and he's not singing zipidie do-dah, like John Boehner did, but he seems upbeat in his (last) weekly press conference at South Carolina.
Spurrier: "We've slid, and it's my fault, and it's time for me to get out of the way," said Steve Spurrier, who is in the middle of a press conference right now concerning his retirement. Watch it below.
Biggest surprise? Spurrier opened the proceedings by saying "I'm resigning, not retiring: let's get that straight. I won;t be a head coach in college again, but you may see me somewhere, coaching a high school team or something."
What? Steve Spurrier, high school coach? That would be both scary and awesome -- if he did that get ready for the people with high school-aged boys moving to Idaho or wherever he'd be coaching. I'd also like to see Spurrier as a biology teacher. Or, driver's ed.

Spurrier is stepping down immediately.
