This Awesome Marcus Mariota Tribute Will Make You Cry Like, Well, Marcus Mariota
Marcus Mariota won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday, so I hear, becoming the first Hawaiian-born winner of college football's most stiff-armed brown award. He broke down a bit during his acceptance speech -- which just makes him more endearing, IMO -- and gave thanks to his mom and pop.
But to truly get a handle on his road to success, just watch the video below. It's awesome, incredible, touching -- in other words everything that a lot of college athletics isn't. It's a tonic for the soul.
"I had to give thanks to so many people because where I am today, it's all do to all those people," Mariota said. "It's hard not to get emotional. It's been a long journey. My emotions got the best of me."
Mariota had twice as many points (2,534) as second-place finisher Melvin Gordon (1,250), the record-breaking running back from Wisconsin. The other finalist, Alabama receiver Amari Cooper, was third.
Very happy for Mariota. He properly utilizes the stage he's been given - someone all kids can look up to. For that alone, huge congrats!!!
