Take a glance (if your retinas can handle it) at Virginia Tech's weird orange helmets, to be worn by the team during the Orange Bowl against Stanford. I am not a fan.
The school lists the color as "burnt orange", but it is probably best described as "puke orange." Let's just say the color should stick to its current role of outlining numbers and letters on the Hokie jerseys.
No matter what the creative folks at Nike came up with, it certainly beats the futuristic digs the Hokies wore against Boise State earlier this year:
One interesting nugget in the unveiling press release is that Virginia Tech's captains chose the orange monstrosities (to be worn with their white jerseys and pants) out of "numerous options" given to them by Nike.
How bad were the other options if they picked that?
