49ers’ Reggie Bush Won’t Play Vs. Steelers: Jarryd Hayne Will Back Up Carlos Hyde
Reggie Bush did not participate in practice today -- one of only two players on the 49ers injury report -- and is expected to sit out San Francisco's game vs. Pittsburgh on Sunday. In fact, Bush probably won't even make the trip, as he's nursing a strained left calf.
Not the most serious of injuries (he says he'll play the following week vs. the Cardinals), but it does set two things in notion: ex-Australian rugby star Jarryd Hayne will be moved up to be Carlos Hyde's backup at running back. And that means that Mike Davis will suit up for the first time to be No. 3. CSN Bay Area:
Bush played just eight snaps on Monday night before his injury. The results of an MRI examination showed a calf strain with no tear to the muscle, a source said. The 49ers do not expect the injury to keep Bush out of action for an extended period of time.

So many emojis.
Hayne's ascension is largely due to his blocking. He's relentless and doesn't miss blitzes: an underrated quality in a running back.
