49ers Put Safety Taylor Mays On Trading Block…By Emailing Every NFL Team
When hired at Stanford, Jim Harbaugh promised he would bring to the job "enthusiasm unknown to mankind." And apparently, now that he's leading the 49ers, the team is announcing potential trades with enthusiasm unknown to mankind. The 49ers recently let every team in the NFL know that safety Taylor Mays is on the trading block...via email. You won't believe it, but this doesn't happen often:
One front office of another team told [ESPN's Adam] Schefter it has never seen a team just mass e-mail a trade availability like that.
You don't say.
It's an early end to the Mays era in San Francisco - the 49ers made him their second-round pick in last year's drat, and he made 38 tackles as a rookie. Apparently, though, the Harbaugh regime thinks it can do better, and really wants to send the message that this guy is available. Remember how upset Mays was when he fell out of the first round last year? Imagine the feelings of disrespect bubbling now.
