6 Players The Patriots Thought Were Better Than Tom Brady
Tom Brady has made it to seven Super Bowls in his NFL career, and he is arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history. At the very least, he’s considered one of the greatest NFL players ever, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see the NFL Hall of Fame induct him while he’s still playing!
Back in 2000, when Brady was just coming out of college at Michigan, it’s an understatement to say that no one expected him to be this good. While it’s easy to say that 31 other NFL teams passed on him, and Bill Belichick was just starting his legend as one of the greatest minds the NFL has ever seen, it’s important to remember the Patriots thought six other college football players were better than Brady that spring.
Interestingly, the Patriots got the pick they used on Brady as compensation for the free agents they lost that offseason. Brady is now considered the best player to ever come to a team as a compensatory draft pick, well ahead of Cowboys G Larry Allen, Eagles S Brian Dawkins and Steelers WR Hines Ward.
