A Giant No Moore; DL Cut By NY over Free Headphones
Now that Colin Kaepernick has fallen out of grace, maybe Beats headphones can use Damontre Moore as its spokesperson, because, if rumors are to be believed, the headphones are the reason the third year player is no longer a Giant.
According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rappaport, Moore was waived by the Giants after a dispute with teammate and fellow defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins over a pair of Beats headphones. According to sources, select players received a free pair of the audio enhancers, which run as low as $199.95 on the official website. Moore, evidently, was not one of those players.
The Giants have stated that it was a series of rule violations that led to the release of Moore, a 3rd round pick (81st overall) in the 2013 Draft. It appears that the headphone incident was the final straw for the Texas A&M alum, with general manager Jerry Reese declaring that the team "made the move in the best interest of both parties".
In nearly three seasons with the Giants, Moore tallied 8.5 sacks, including 3 this season, good for second on the team. He was benched for the Giants Week 7 win over the Dallas Cowboys following a late hit on Eagles QB Sam Bradford during a Monday Night Football loss. He played 42 games with the Giants, picking up 66 tackles and forcing 3 fumbles. He had 6 tackles in his last game, the Giants' 23-20 overtime loss to the New York Jets.
The Giants (5-7) are currently tied for first in the NFC East. They return to action Monday Night in Miami.
