A Packers Fan Called The Cops When Cam Newton Stole His Banner On Sunday
We live in troubling, tumultuous times. So what's the big controversy here on Monday that has America pounding the keys of their laptops, PCs and smartphones? Of course it's Cam Newton's brazen theft of a Green Bay Packers banner at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Sunday.
As the Panthers were preparing to play the Packers, Newton tore down a pro-Green Bay banner that was hanging on a wall leading to the stands, folded it up and took it to the locker room. The fan who owned the banner, which read "North Carolina Cheesehead", of course called the police to report the theft. This is true.
Here's the evidence, officer:

It all resulted in Sunday's best quote. Newton, when asked why he took the banner:
"You're not about to sit up here and sell a Whopper at no McDonalds, know what I'm saying?"

Several of Newton's teammates then chimed in to say that they had pressured their quarterback to steal the banner. New York Daily News:
Mike Dobs, a Packers fan from Fayetteville, North Carolina, reported to stadium police that the banner was stolen. Dobs told the Fayetteville-Observer that he paid $500 to have the banner made to hang in his home and $3,800 for the tickets to Sunday’s game.
Dobs, according to the Fayetteville-Observer, was told that the banner was destroyed and that the Panthers will make it up to him.
“I was shocked, just shocked,” Dobs told the paper.
Here's what I hope comes of all this:
-- Cam Newton is arrested and sent to county jail.
-- In a show of solidarity, his teammates demand to be arrested as well. They all share a cell like that jail scene in Ghostbusters.
-- The fan is forced to explain to Dr. Phil why he is a Green Bay fan living in North Carolina.
-- We all continue to be amused by this all week.
