Will Aaron Rodgers ‘Pony Up’ On His Ryan Braun Bet? Fan Says He’ll ‘Take A Game Check’

  • Rick Chandler

Back in February, Aaron Rodgers spent the better part of a day defending his pal Ryan Braun on Twitter. Besides calling people “idiots” for accusing Braun of juicing, Rodgers made a bet with one fan:

Oops. (Dealer sweeps chips away from Rodgers).

Sutton responded today, and said he won’t try and pressure Rodgers to pay him an entire year’s salary.

“I’d just take a game check,” Sutton told USA TODAY Sports Tuesday, laughing.

That would only cost Rodgers $281,250. After receiving a new $66-million contract in April, Rodgers certainly has the cash to pay up.

“I’m not really expecting to hear from him. It’d be cool, but I doubt it’s going to happen,” Sutton said.

When I wrote about this on Monday, Sutton had about 20 Twitter followers. Now he has nearly 700.

And his bet is becoming famous. Sutton this morning appeared on Jay Mohr Sports on Fox Radio.

It seems that Sutton has a pretty good sense of humor as well.

#PonyUp is our hashtag of the Week.

Rodgers has been silent on all of this so far — his last tweet was on July 19, as he began the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe, Nev. Chances are he’ll awkwardly wriggle out of this by claiming a “misunderstanding.” As is his custom.
