Allergies suck. Whether it's pollen or dust or even an allergy to shellfish, it's just super annoying. The side effects of these allergies are also incredibly frustrating. Like having to deal with a rash or stuffy nose or the inability to breathe. We all try our best to just shake them off, but there's only so much you can do. Thus even when you know you are going to suffer, you go to work. So that's what Allen Hurns does. He goes to work.
No, it's not that Hurns is allergic to pollen or winning (sorry Jags fans). Since high school, Hurns has had an allergy to grass. Yeah, a professional football player is allergic to grass.
Although he doesn't have trouble breathing or get stuffed up, Hurns can get major rashes from the grass. The rashes totally vary in severity, but often times they can end up being very itchy. According to an interview with ESPN, sometimes Hurns even needs to take a shot of Benadryl after games. It's why despite practicing in Jacksonville, Hurns wears long sleeves and long tights.
Even with the grass allergy, Hurns signed a contract extension to stay in Jacksonville long term. We guess that $20 million guaranteed is probably worth having to itch yourself for half the year.
