Bears’ Jared Allen Is A Hero On And Off The Field
Watching Chicago-Detroit right now, and CBS is showing us plenty of closeups of turkeys -- poor creatures destined for slaughter to feed us. And speaking of that, the Lions are beating the Bears 31-17, in the first of today's games. Did you want a Jay Cutler drumstick or thigh?
But we're a nation in desperate need of something more right now, and the Bears are providing. Chicago DE Jared Allen in his spare time builds houses for wounded veterans, and how inspiring is that? He does it through the Wounded Warriors program. CBSSports:
"We have an obligation to serve those who serve us when they come home," Allen said. "And what home to me is, is a place where I feel my most secure at my most vulnerable moments."
Just before Thursday's Bears-Lions kickoff, Allen had this message for the soldiers: "Thank you for your selfless service and get home soon. We love you and God bless every one of you."
And hey, he can play football, too.
FUMBLE!! Jared Allen strips Matthew Stafford and recovers the fumble inside the 10-yard line.

For all the negative stuff we've seen off the field in the NFL this year, there are plenty of positives. Good on ya, Jared Allen
