Bill Belichick Still Hates Reporters But The Dude Loves Thanksgiving
Bill Belichick's Wednesday afternoon press conference was a real cornucopia (topical!) of typically un-quotable, salty retorts. Belichick's relationship with reporters and their dumb questions is quite similar to his friend Donald Trump's relationship with...well, reporters and their dumb questions.
The only difference being, of course, that Belichick is responsible for sports and not the well-being of our entire system of government...
::laughs maniacally until it turns into crying::
Belichick was also responsible for coaching the winning team in the football game that gave us one of the most glorious plays in NFL history: The Mark Sanchez Butt Fumble. This week marks the 4th anniversary of the turnover heard 'round the world, and so in the spirit of holiday cheer, one reporter was brave enough to posit jokingly whether Belichick had taken the chance to analyze the butt fumble.
He responded accordingly:
"Yeah i don't think we'll get to that. Yeah that's a great question. That's awesome."
Belichick really added an extra edge to his usual dry sarcasm there. God, does this guy know how to have fun with anything?
Wow. I stand corrected. We can now add Thanksgiving to the short list of things that make Belichick genuinely happy; along with cutting apart sweatshirts, winning cold weather games over dome teams and hugging Chip Kelly.
Also I'd love to take a moment to note that he referred to the holiday of Thanksgiving as "one of the all-time greats." Superb. It's like he's programmed by the engineers at Westworld to only speak in sports idioms. Say what you will about this man, but he's one of pop culture's last few, true mysteries. There's value in that.
Now go enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday. It's one of the greats.
