Boltman Testifying At San Diego City Council Meeting Shows How New Stadium Is Doomed
The San Diego City Council on Tuesday approved a $2.1 million environmental impact study on a new stadium in the Mission Valley district for the San Diego Chargers. And who showed up prior to the vote to lobby for this study? Boltman, the Chargers' unofficial game-day mascot. And his appearance proves just how doomed this plan is. See why, below.

* Boltman does not speak for the Chargers. In fact, the man who plays Boltman, Dan Jauregui, once sued the team for expenses reimbursement, and won a $30,000 out-of-court settlement.
* The Chargers didn't want this study, and apparently have no interest in staying in San Diego. They want to move to Carson, near Los Angeles, to play in a new stadium being built there.
* Chargers' special counsel Mark Fabiani said the team wanted nothing to do with the study, calling it a "debacle". The Chargers are afraid that any stadium plan would end up in court and eventually be squashed by environmental groups, like the recent plan to expand the San Diego Convention Center.
* The City Council likely voted for the environmental impact study because it was an easy way to get one approved for the eventual demolition of Qualcomm Stadium, where the Chargers play now.
