Boom Goes The Dynamite: Giants Withdraw $60M Offer To Jason Pierre-Paul
As you know, Giants' defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul decided to celebrate the Fourth of July exactly the way the Founding Fathers envisioned: with a U-Haul van filled with boxes of fireworks. Even though on paper there was no way that could have gone badly, somehow it did, and Pierre-Paul nearly blew off his hand.
He was hospitalized with scorched fingers, but according to NFL.com, all of the digits are still intact. As of Sunday night, doctors were still examining him for nerve damage, and he remains hospitalized. Nevertheless, the Giants have withdrawn a $60 million long-term tender, which Pierre-Paul was considering. He had until July 15 to sign it.
NFL.com is also reporting that Pierre-Paul was leaning toward not signing it anyway, preferring to play 2015-16 on the final year on his $14.8 million franchise tag and then becoming a free agent.
