Bros Watching Sports! Your Sports-On-TV Guide For Sunday, October 21
Even with the NHL season on hiatus, we are officially entering the busy portion of the sports year. The MLB playoffs are heating up, the football season is approaching the midway point, and the NBA preseason is underway. With so much going on, it can be difficult to keep track of everything worth watching. Here’s your Sunday guide to TV.
All times Eastern.
NFL Regular Season
Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings - 1:00PM, FOX
The ultimate awkward matchup of two good teams that no one cares about. With both teams at 4-2, this should be a good game. But does anyone outside of the states of Arizona and Minnesota care? Answer: no.
Washington Redskins at New York Giants - 1:00PM, FOX
RGIII. Eli Manning. NFC East rivalries. "These teams hate each other!" Cut to Joe Theismann getting his leg destroyed by Lawrence Taylor. History. Something else. Maybe this will be a good game?
Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans - 1:00PM, CBS
Baltimore and Houston are both 5-1, but now that the Ravens have lost Ray Lewis for the season, this game is a must-watch to see if they keep the momentum going or if they fold completely without their leader. I'm sure Lewis will give an amazing speech before the game to pump up his teammates, we'll just have to wait and see if it sticks. Not to take anything away from the Texans, but that's the story today.
New York Jets at New England Patriots - 4:25PM, CBS
An always exciting matchup between the Jet and Patriots, two teams that actually hate each other. Between that and the prospect of Tim Tebow actually getting some playing time now that he's in the mix at running back, not to mention that there are somehow only two late games today (the other is Jacksonville at Oakland), you'd be a fool not to be interested.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals - 8:20PM, NBC
No idea why NBC either bid for this game or why the NFL decided this would be a good Sunday night game, but I guess this is happening. How is the Jets-Patriots game not the Sunday night game? Do people want to watch the Bengals? Or was this a total give-up because of baseball?
St. Louis Cardinals at San Francisco Giants - 7:30PM, FOX
Game 6. St. Louis leads 3 games to 2. Can the Giants force a Game 7, or will the Cardinals finish them off? Will anyone be watching Sunday Night Football instead of this game? What about the weekly Law And Order: SVU marathon on USA? I'm trying to pump up this game, but I have to come clean: I don't like baseball. So here's hoping the Giants win just because Game 7's are fun.
San Antonio Spurs at Orlando Magic - 6:00PM, NBATV
The Spurs continue their tour of Florida as they travel to Orlando to take on the Magic. I mean, if you're really desperate to watch basketball, this is mildly intriguing just because Eddy Curry is apparently doing well in the preseason. Even I'm having trouble caring about this game, to be honest.
Sacramento Kings at Los Angeles Lakers, 9:30PM, NBATV
The Lakers are 0-5 in the preseason! Honestly, this is almost a "who cares?" game, but it's worth mentioning because Dwight Howard might make his Lakers debut. So at least catch the beginning to see that. It'll take 30 seconds, don't be a dick.
