Bryce Petty More Prepared To Play In the NFL Thanks To Madden
Bryce Petty was last year's shiny new toy for Jets fan. Drafted in the fourth round after an eye opening career at Baylor, many Jets fans were excited with thought of Petty bringing the high octane offense to the NFL. Sure there was going to be a massive learning curve for Petty, but the potential was there.
Last year's shiny new toy quickly went to the garbage once the Jets drafted Christian Hackenberg. With the talk of resigning Ryan Fitzpatrick, potentially starting Geno Smith and developing Christian Hackenberg, fans have totally forgotten that Bryce Petty exists. If the team does actually resign Fitzpatrick many people believe that Petty won't even be on the team anymore.
Meanwhile during this time, Petty has just strived to improve. He works out, he watches film and he plays Madden.
It's true, Petty is now judging his progress as a quarterback by playing Madden.
Via NJ.com..."For me, it's a process," Petty said. "Just watching film, I'm seeing things. I played Madden the other day, and it's not just picking run plays anymore. It's like, 'Oh, they've got an under front [on defense].' You start picking up things differently. That's exciting for me.
It's nice to hear that Petty is striving to become one of the best E-Sport players in the nation. Being able to point out the extra man in the box in Madden and then call a particular running play probably wont help him very much when these players are coming after him in an actual NFL game. They also won't help him improve his accuracy very much.
While Madden is an accurate portrayal of football, it's possible that the player that Petty is playing (or the computer) may also suck. Do we know for sure that Petty is playing Madden on the advanced level? Like, he could be playing on easy or novice. But hey, we're sure that Todd Bowles will select his quarterback based on Madden ratings anyway, so keep working Bryce!
