Cam Newton Gets Homespun Andy Griffith Lecture On Sportsmanship
Opie already had two strikes against him with Goober as his head coach, so I have sympathy. But why didn't he dive on that fumble in the fourth quarter, which was eventually recovered by Otis? When everything's on the line, sometimes you have to make a sacrifice.
Fortunately Andy was there to add some homespun country wisdom to the situation. This whole thing is perfect: after all, Mayberry is just down the road from Charlotte, and everyone from Floyd to Helen Crump are Panthers fans.
Just made this, Andy Griffith giving Cam Newton some advice

Via a dude named Richard Gilbreath on Facebook, this is going viral.
Fun fact: the clip is from the second-season episode of The Andy Griffith Show, "A Medal For Opie", in which Opie convinces himself -- after some coaching from Barney -- that he's going to win the Sheriff's Day Boys Race 50-yard dash. Of course he gets smoked, because there's no less athletic human ever born than a young Ron Howard. A good thing for Opie to have said was "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser," but that likely would have earned him a trip to the woodshed.
